SpeakerCraft majoring on NIRV’s European launch at ISE

test 29 January 2010

Incorporating a modular architecture, the NIRV A/V distribution and control system will be demonstrated at ISE 2010, reports David Davies. Designed “from the ground up with no legacy system requirements”, according to SpeakerCraft’s Jason Craze, the system’s modular architecture allows dealers to buy only the pieces required for the specific system they have designed or are upgrading.

All media, data, control and communication signals are distributed through a single Cat5 cable, while beyond standard AV distribution the system also integrates theatre surround sound, home automation and page/intercom into “one easy-to-manage package”.

Jeremy Burkhardt, president of SpeakerCraft, remarked that NIRV is “the first system of its kind that allows the user to own the experience instead of having the experience dictated by the equipment. The system is almost transparent, bringing content and control to the fingertips of the user through either touchpanel keypads or while navigating a GUI on the video screen. The remote single-handedly takes the complexity out of owning this type of system. You have to experience it to truly understand what a landmark product this is.”

More than 20 components go to make up the NIRV system, which is set to ship in Q2 and will be introduced at ISE (stand 1H25) by Craze, who is SpeakerCraft’s director of electrical engineering.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to spread the NIRV message to Europe and ISE is the only forum that delivers the transcontinental audience,” Craze told IE Residential. “This system is going to change the way people look at audio/video distribution and control, and at ISE they will get hands-on experience of how the system performs.”
