Sound Projects installation for glamorous Moscow club8 May 2008
Igor Sinitsyn from Acoustic Projects – which acts as an agent for Sound Projects – consulted the manufacturer’s Jan Slooter in putting together systems for the Rai’s various halls and dancefloors. The main dancefloor system in the Rai features six SP4-Diamonds flown in the corners, augmented by four X-act monitors as downfills and a total of six ground-stacked SP4-15 bass cabinets. Also in this part of the complex, Sound Projects installed a rear PA comprising two SP4-15s, an SP4-Diamond and three X-acts, with two further X-acts installed under the balcony. The sound system for the second dancefloor, meanwhile, features two SP4-15 and one SP4-Diamond per side, with two SP15s and 2 X-acts flown at the rear. All equipment is used in conjunction with a BSS loudspeaker management system.
“We have created a very good sound – it is powerful and clear, but not over the top,” said Sinitsyn. “The headroom on the main dancefloor can reach over 120dB without limiting, so the system will always drive in its comfort zone with little or no distortion.”
Based in the Netherlands, Sound Projects recently unveiled a new horn-loaded bass cabinet. The self-powered SP2-10 complements the SP18 front-loaded vented sub-bass unit.
