Global fashion retailer River Island has invested in LED technology for the first time, with the installation of a large screen LED display from ADI.tv at its flagship Rotterdam store. Content is managed remotely from the company’s headquarters in London.

At the city’s busiest shopping destination – The Lijnbaan – the 12sqm display is helping drive footfall and convey the fashion brand’s identity via high-impact digital media. The display allows River Island to communicate its latest campaigns and in-store offering in an innovative and attractive way, with the screen also providing opportunities to broadcast interactive and live content.

The ADI-designed and engineered solution integrates seamlessly within River Island’s contemporary storefront; the screen is recessed within the clad façade and features a matt black Dibond bezel which complements the existing reflective metal cladding.

The screen utilises ADI’s outdoor 10mm SMD product, which features Nichia grade LED, widely recognised as the highest quality available on the market. This offers exceptional image quality in all weather conditions, even in direct sunlight, and brightness can be controlled on-site or remotely.

ADI also provided the content management system, allowing programming to be managed remotely from River Island’s West London head office .

Terry Finn, purchasing manager at River Island, commented: “We can engage customers before they enter the store, while also enhancing the aesthetic. The look and feel of the screen fits well with our identity as a contemporary high street retailer who stays at the forefront of fashion, innovation and store experience.” He added, “Following due diligence we choose ADI because of their ability to deliver turnkey solutions and proven expertise across multiple markets.”

Drew Burrow, ADI’s business development manager, commented, “We have created a strong product range for the retail sector, with a variety of resolutions for both indoor and outdoor environments – all enhanced by our custom approach to each installation and offering of comprehensive support.

“LED screens are a significant investment in the retail environment, so it’s important to brands to work with a supplier who offers the best in product and installation processes, and helps maximise value throughout the lifetime of the product. The ADI brand is one of the most established and well known in the UK LED market and installations such as this are helping us to extend our values of quality product and renowned service beyond British shores and into mainland Europe.”

ADI undertook the installation process during the store’s closing hours. The company will also provide ongoing servicing and maintenance to maximise the screen’s operational lifespan and offer localised client support and remote monitoring.
