Prestigious Italian club installed with Alcons

test 21 October 2009

The audio system was devised by Direct Field Engineering’s Pierluigi Pecchenini, who specified a blend of Alcons Audio VR8, TS7 and LR14 loudspeakers.

Downstairs, two Alcons LR14s and a VR8 are located each side of the stage, with two further VR8s directly above at a height of 4.5m to cover the upper dining area. Two more VR8s are mounted on the ceiling above that area.

The system also includes two LR14B 2 x 12″ subs, ground-stacked beneath the stage, and five TS7 twin 6.5″ woofer + 1″ soft-dome tweeter full-range cabinets distributed throughout the ground floor.

The VR8s are powered and controlled by ALC2 amplified loudspeaker controllers, while ALC4s carry out the same function for the LR14s. Mixing and overall system control is achieved via a Yamaha LS9-16 console, while the audio distribution is handled by an EtherSound digital network.

It was originally thought that the Cavalli Club system would be used primarily for background music and cabaret performances. However, “as it has turned out, almost all the performances are DJ sets and we have reprogrammed the system, making it work as a whole for DJ sets. Overall it works extremely well and sounds fantastic,” noted Giordano Tieghi from Alcons’ Italian distributor, Head Room.

“Roberto Cavalli is one of the world’s most famous fashion designers and his designs are all about style, individuality and quality,” added Alcons managing director, Tom Back. “Those qualities are also the bedrock of Alcons’ designs and so we are really pleased that an Alcons system was chosen for such a landmark venue.”
