PMC announces new Airfonix association7 August 2009
PMC is now distributing Airfonix wireless audio products in the UK, reports David Davies. Based in the US, Airfonix manufactures products that are designed to retrofit any active or passive loudspeaker, thereby allowing users to bring wireless capability to both indoor and outdoor wired audio systems.
PMC signed the contract for UK distribution of AIRFONIX shortly before the start of this year’s CEDIA UK Expo.
The Airfonix range includes 24-bit two-channel transmitters and receivers, all of which are housed in slimline aluminium extruded cases and feature Smart channel selection that automatically avoids interference with other wireless devices.
Specific products include the APX-19PT002 and AFX-19PT102 transmitters, and the AFX-19PR001 and AFX-19AR050 receivers.
PMC marketing manager Keith Tonge told IE Residential: "Introducing the product range to the UK CI [sector] at this year’s CEDIA Expo gave us a good indicator of the huge potential of AIRFONIX. The option of uncompressed, 24-bit wireless audio that can be incorporated into any home automation system using any loudspeaker proved to be extremely popular. Quality and flexibility are the key, and with future products due for imminent launch like a wireless USB transmitter that streams directly from a PC/laptop to the loudspeaker, we can only see growth and a rosy future for the brand here in the UK."
