Phase set to stun with new product flurry2 November 2010
New products introduced by Phase Technology at CEDIA 2010 included the CineMicro Series (pictured), a range of audiophile-grade speakers for home theatres. The company also unveiled a number of new subs, a redesigned Phase Velocity Series and a number of new in-ceiling options, among other products.
Designed for home theatre applications, the 5.1 CineMicro One system comprises four satellite speakers, a dual-woofer centre channel speaker and an 8-inch long-throw subwoofer in all-wood, acoustically neutral enclosures. Featuring Phase Technology’s Absolute Phase crossover networks for consistent sound throughout a room, the CineMicro One speakers handle 100 watts per channel. The system may be expanded to accommodate 6.1, 7.1 or 7.2 audio requirements.
Meanwhile, the redesigned Phase Velocity speaker series includes a new cabinet design and a lower cost. The company’s VDT Vapor-Deposited Titanium woofers and one-inch silk blend soft dome tweeters are said to offer an extended mid-range and “smooth, lush highs.” A total of five new models have been introduced: V52, a two-way 5.25” bookshelf speaker; V62, a two-way 6.5” bookshelf speaker; V626, a two-way tower with two 6.5” speakers; V5520, an LCR with two 5.25” speakers; and V-Surround-II, a Bipole/Dipole switchable unit with 5.25” speaker.
Elsewhere in the Phase Technology range, the new HV Sub series for whole-home audio applications comprises the 8” HV81, the 10” HV101 and 12” HV121, while the DCB-115 15” subwoofer has been added to the dARTS Digital Audio Reference Theatre System. The new WL-SURR line of wireless surround speakers, meanwhile, offer 100 watts of total amplifier power, operate in the 2.4 GHz band, and use ‘frequency-hopping’ to ensure an interference-free signal.
Finally, the company has also undertaken several new developments in the area of ceiling speakers. New to the CI in-ceiling series are the CI6.0 IX QM – incorporating a 6.5” woofer with a coaxially-mounted 1” Variable Axis soft dome tweeter – and the CS8R/PT, which is Phase Technology’s first 8” in-ceiling speaker. In addition, there was a brand new line of surface-mount, ceiling-mount and in-wall 3” speakers, comprising four models: the surface-mount SPF-15, the round ceiling-mount CI 1.5, the square in-wall CI 15, and CI-MM3-II, which incorporates an update to Phase Technology’s 3” in-wall Spacia speaker.
Duke Ducoff, vice-president of sales at at Phase Technology parent company MSE Audio Group, told IE Residential: “All of our new products were met with enthusiasm by CEDIA attendees, with our wireless surrounds generating the most interest. The idea for the wireless products came from installers, so they were excited to see so many options for wireless installations at our booth.”
