Panasonic gains new distributor22 January 2010
Northgate Managed Services will serve as a key distribution partner for Panaboard interactive whiteboards as well as a wider range of products and solutions for the education sector. The announcement was made on the same day (13 January) as Panasonic unveiled a ‘classroom of the future’ at BETT 2010.
Able to call on more than 1,000 staff across the UK and Ireland, Northgate Managed Services is known for its work with brands including Microsoft, Symantec and DELL, and is a prominent provider of ICT services and solutions to the education market.

Peter Dempsey, Northgate Managed Services’ account manager at Panasonic, added: “As a key Panasonic partner, Northgate was selected because of its special expertise and relationships within the education sector. The C2k partnership [in Northern Ireland] particularly gives Northgate extensive knowledge and experience useful to help deliver precisely the technology solutions required for the education market.”
Meanwhile, the aforementioned classroom demo is said to have garnered a “great reaction” from BETT visitors, who were able to see a host of Panasonic’s new education technology solutions in action. Alongside the new UB-T880 elite Panaboard multi-touch interactive whiteboard with Easitech software, the BETT showcase featured a demonstration of a new gesture-recognition system capable of recognising and registering faces and hand gestures from both individual students and teachers, as well as the KX-VC500 HD visual communication system.
Brennan Peyton (pictured), general manager of the Imaging Group at Panasonic System Network Company Europe, told II: “Generally there was a very positive response and a large amount of traffic to our stand. Panasonic can offer an entire range of technology solutions to improve both audible and visual communication in a secure classroom environment, and take the hassle out of procuring one or multiple technology and ICT solutions for an educational establishment. Other products visitors enquired about heavily were Toughbook rugged mobile computing solutions, security solutions, projectors and plasma displays, telephone systems and multifunction printers and scanners.”
