New multi-socket energy savers from Crystal Acoustics19 January 2011
The company claims that the two new products can help consumers save up to 30% on their electricity bills by ‘significantly’ reducing energy consumption.
The Energy Savers products achieve these energy savings by completely turning off the power to devices when they are not in use. According to OmniMount, the new five-socket energy savers reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 1500kg per year by overriding the standby function on an electronic device and turning it off. Standby power level of connected devices is detected by the Load Learning function.
Other features include a single ‘always on’ socket for the connection of devices which must always remain powered-up, and surge protection technology to ensure that electronic devices remain unharmed by electrical spikes (all the way up to 700 Joules) and deliver ‘clean’ power to components.
The two new products are the CES-5R-LL UK Remote Controlled Energy Saver and CES-5S-LL UK Energy Saver with Table Switch, the latter being ideal for those working at a desk.
Catherine Spanou, R&D product manager for Crystal Audio S.A., told IE Residential: "Customers are already recognising the opportunity to save money and behave in an environmentally friendly manner through the use of automatic/remote switching on demand. As Crystal Audio we still need to educate more of our customers on the products’ usage and advantages, and expect to make energy savers even more popular in the near-future. One way in which we believe customer motivation can be enhanced is by presenting a breakdown of individuals’ use of energy alongside cost and environmental impact."
