New Casio projectors prompt UK distribution expansion

test 18 January 2010

Midwich and Micro-Peripherals will carry Casio’s next-generation of high brightness, ‘clean & green’ projectors, writes David Davies. The new projectors – recently introduced into the UK market – make use of a mercury-free laser and LED hybrid light source.

Comprising 10 models, the ‘clean & green’ products – part of the GREEN SLIM range – are described as the world’s first mercury-free high-brightness data projectors. Alongside the aforementioned laser and LED hybrid light source, the series specification includes quick powering on/off and a wide-angle 2X optical zoom, among many other features.

Philip Clark, business development manager for professional visual products at Casio, told II: “Casio is excited to be introducing these groundbreaking and innovative projectors into the market and in doing so reaffirming its commitment to providing energy-efficient AV solutions. Casio’s mercury free hybrid laser technology offers end-users a reduction in TCO while being friendly to the environment.”

Casio says that Midwich and Micro-Peripherals (also known as Micro-P) are a “natural fit” for Casio. The new appointments are intended to help secure access to new market sectors, complementing the continued success enjoyed through existing distributor Medium UK.

In a statement announcing the agreements, Clark said that, with the launch of the new projectors, there was “a requirement for an expansion of our current distribution strategy. Casio would therefore like to welcome Midwich and Micro-P to our partner portfolio alongside Medium UK, our existing distributor. With a clear roadmap of future projection products and a strong commitment to the channel, we are looking forward to working closely with all concerned to ensure the success of these products moving forward.”
