Multiple HoW installs for Fohhn6 September 2010
Surrey-based QuiteLoud Pro Audio has completed a series of Fohhn PA system installations in UK churches, including Sunfields Methodist Church in Blackheath, London. At Sunfields (pictued), QuiteLoud worked alongside architects during the construction process to ensure that the PA requirements were successfully accommodated.
“Fohhn loudspeakers were specifically chosen for their interior design compatibility and size, as well as coverage,” commented QuiteLoud’s Steve Bradshaw. “We fitted Linea LX-100 line array column speakers in the main worship area, with Arc Series AT-22 and AT-05 speakers used in other parts of the church. The system is driven by a Fohhn D-4.750 4-channel DSP-controlled Class D amplifier and can be remotely controlled via laptop using Fohhn Audio Soft 3.0 software. The speaker design is perfectly suited to the architecture and the overall coverage is extremely effective with impressive and detailed speech reproduction.”
Elsewhere, a combination of Fohhn AT-35, AT-07 and AT-10 speakers, AS-40 subwoofers, two D-4.750 amplifiers and an FR-10 Fohhn Net Remote System was deemed to be the most suitable solution for St James’s Church in Muswell Hill, London. Christ Church in Tunbridge Wells, meanwhile, features Fohhn’s Linea LX-100 speakers, ASP-20 compact subwoofers and a D.2750 two-channel DSP-controlled digital amplifier, complementing the church’s previous purchase of Fohhn Easy Port Direct-Media self-powered speakers.
“A full rock band leads a lively worship programme at this church, so we needed a compact system capable of delivering effective coverage and full dynamic range,” said Bradshaw. “The LX-100s fill the room very evenly, delivering plenty of clarity for both speech and music, while the subs give a really clear reproduction of bass frequencies.”
Jochen Schwarz, head of the executive board, Fohhn Audio AG, told IE: "Audio for worship is one of the most exacting disciplines in professional sound reinforcement and it has been a particular area of specialism for Fohhn throughout the company’s 17-year history. There are various acoustic issues that are peculiar to churches and other worship venues. Identifying these over the years has helped us develop products such as the Linea AL and Linea LX loudspeaker series, and our flagship Linea Focus electronically steerable line array systems that have all been specifically designed to eradicate these problems.
"We are seeing an increasing number of Fohhn systems installed in houses of worship and it is an area that will continue to be very important in our future development. Because of this, we are now offering regular seminars and training sessions on worship sound reinforcement."
Fohhn loudspeaker systems are distributed in the UK by Systems Workshop.
