Monitor Audio showing new spot light speaker at ISE

test 29 January 2010

The CPC120 (pictured) is one of several new CI-relevant products to be shown at next week’s exhibition, reports David Davies. Among other developments, Monitor Audio will also undertake the European show debuts of the SoundFrame and Apex loudspeaker ranges at ISE (stand 10L124).

Featuring an 80mm diameter, the CPC120 loudspeaker is said to offer extraordinary sound quality from a standard down-lighter hole. Unlike many in-ceiling speakers, it features a dedicated enclosure for the driver, which is rigid and mineral-filled. Availability with white, chrome, brass or brushed steel bezels to match the typical downlighter finishes eases integration with a variety of decors.

The SoundFrame range of on-wall loudspeakers comprises two models: SoundFrame 1, which has the aspect ratio of a typical picture frame and is designed for music and film sound applications in front left/right and surround locations; and SoundFrame 2, whose proportions are more akin to a longer centre-channel speaker to match TVs or projection screens. In addition to a depth of 87mm and a choice of high-gloss piano lacquers or customised colours for the on-wall cabinet, the products utilise a true three-way full-range drive configuration featuring a pivoting IDC 4in/1in tweeter module and an 8in C-CAM/RST cone bass driver.

Versatile compact speaker range Apex will also be on show at ISE. The series is said to address the market beyond Monitor’s Radius HD compact AV speaker systems, and features an initial three-model line-up of the A10 stand/wall-mounting compact satellite, the A40 larger wall mounting satellite, and the AW-12 500W (RMS) active sub.

Marketing manager Michael Johnson told IE Residential: “ISE brings our distributors across Europe to one place, so it’s the perfect platform for showing our key new product ranges.”
