Micro-P hires Aitken, signs AMX

Last month, Micro-P announced that it had recruited Ian Aitken (pictured) as general manager of its AV division, promising that he would “strategically bolster the AV vendor portfolio with a number of high profile AV brands, spearhead an intensive recruitment drive, realign the AV product management team and roll out a comprehensive training program creating a number of in-house product specialists primed to deliver intensive AV sales and marketing support to resellers and vendors alike”.

“Micro-P already has a strong position and great reputation within the AV market,” said Aitken. “My immediate goal is to ensure we are recognised as an audio visual distributor of substance. I plan to improve our AV offering to customers by building on an already experienced AV solutions division, streamlining the commercial structure and increasing the overall skill level of our general sales staff. These key steps will quickly enable us to turn theory into action with major benefits to vendors and customers alike. I am extremely excited by vendors’ positive reactions to our plans and willingness to work with us in fulfilling these. Reseller feedback has also been enormously positive with new partnerships developing every day.”

Within a week of the announcement, AMX has signed a distribution agreement with Micro-P.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Micro P to capitalise on what we believe are significant opportunities,” said AMX sales director, Jonathan Mangnall. “This is a strategic partnership; enabling Micro P to strengthen their product offering, whilst giving AMX another important route to market. Since our products complement their portfolio very well, we expect this distribution model to be a highly effective and mutually beneficial one.”

“Micro-P’s AV Solutions portfolio has been given a significant boost with the news that we have been chosen by AMX to distribute their entire portfolio,” said Aitken. “AMX are a leading brand in the Pro AV arena and have joined many other technical solutions vendors in identifying the strength of Micro-P’s new AV objectives. The AMX agreement is a major coup for Micro-P and signals our intention to become a serious player in the Technical AV Distribution Space. AMX will be instrumental to our growth and success within the Pro-AV market.”

Aitken has already created a number of new positions within the AV team at Micro-P including the appointment of AV specialists Jin Khangura and Marc Thrush who both previously worked for True Colours. Khangura now joins as business development manager for the technical AV vendors and Thrush joins as business development manager focusing on NEC.

Mark Reynolds has joined as marketing manager and was formerly marketing executive and designer within Micro-P’s education division. Additional sales assistance comes with the appointment of Robyn Osbourne, also previously of True Colours, who will be responsible for day to day sales support and internal sales liaison.
