Making a mark in Wedemark: Sennheiser expands HQ and production plant

test 3 July 2007

“Today, we are one of the leading audio brands worldwide. This reorganisation will allow us to further expand the concept of a modern corporate headquarters and to give a fitting reflection of the Sennheiser brand. The planned extension will ensure that the various corporate functions can work more closely together and can communicate faster and more effectively.”

The first project of the expansion programme is a new factory building that will take over production from the Burgdorf plant 30km away. The Burgdorf site will be closed, but “none of the 183 jobs will be lost,” according to Bartels. “The reorganisation will make the workflow faster and more enable us to act more flexibly in a rapidly developing world market.”

Sennheiser’s headquarters in Wedemark, where the company was founded in 1945, have grown continuously. The new modern production facility will be constructed adjacent to the company’s Class 100 clean room. “The workplaces and production lines are arranged and designed according to the most modern criteria,” explains Bartels. Planning for the new building and reorganisation has already begun, and the relocation of the Burgdorf site is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2009.
