RCF Group sells SGM to focus on audio

Following a successful ISE and a 50% rise in audio sales at the start of 2012, the RCF group decided to part with its lighting division SGM to concentrate on its core audio brand.

RCF Group has announced the sale of its lighting division SGM, to a consortium headed by Danish entrepreneur Peter Johansen. The group is aiming to capitalise on an “explosive” start to 2012 and a promising end to the final quarter of 2011, by moving away from lighting interests to concentrate purely on its core audio brand. RCF Group chairman, Arturo Vicari (pictured), says the decision was entirely amicable and suits both parties. “Audio is performing well in most territories – other than the eurozone – and has really burst into life this year, with sales exploding,” he said. “Strategically we have decided to invest our time, money and resources into maximising this over the next 12 months. Why waste time in a market other than our core business when there are so many possibilities to exploit in audio?” Vicari continued, “The market is clearly indicating that it understands our product strategies, and we will be able to show the benefits of being able to dedicate all our time to audio with a range of new products which are being scheduled for Frankfurt Prolight + Sound in March.”

In a year that has already seen its audio sales grow by 50%, the RCF Group reported an overwhelming response to its display at ISE, and experienced increased penetration in the major M1, integration and live event sectors in the fourth quarter of last year. Particularly encouraging was said to be the response to the TTL11A active column speaker array system, aimed at AV presentation or corperate events.
