Sales company Clockwork Audio has supplied three educational institutes in the South West of England with Allen & Heath mixing consoles for installation in their teaching/entertainment facilities.
The first of the three projects revolved around DBs Music, which has opened a new music technology training centre in partnership with Cornwall College, selecting GS-R24M recording mixers for four production suites, as well as several ZED-10FX mixers. An addition to DBs’ existing Plymouth centre, the new facility offers a variety of new training programmes in Music Performance and Music Production, with plans to add university-level courses in the future. Four GS-R24 mixers have been installed into bespoke furniture, connected to 27” iMacs with Pro Tools and Logic, while several ZED-10FXs have been located in the custom-built live and performance rooms.
“When we looked at mixing solutions for our new studios in Cornwall there was really only one choice for us,” commented DBs’ development director, Mark Trewin. “The Allen & Heath GS-R24M mixers provide our learners with high quality functionality just as you would expect in a commercial recording facility. Meanwhile, charitable organisation Hannah’s at Seale Hayne in Newton Abbot, Devon, has specified an iLive digital system for its new Yellow Room live music centre. The Hannah’s iLive system comprises an iLive-T112 control surface and iDR-48 MixRack with a KV2 speaker system, and manages an eclectic range of live shows and DJ events. All the profit resulting from the new venue will go disabled children’s charity Dame Hannah Rogers Trust.
Finally, University College Falmouth (UCF) in Cornwall hosts numerous Allen & Heath mixers in its performance and rehearsal studios, practice rooms, and analogue and digital recording studio complex, including a GL2800, a couple of MixWizards and several ZED compact USB mixers. In addition, an iLive system – pairing an iLive-T112 Control Surface and iDR-48 MixRack – has been installed in the University College’s Performance Centre.
