Light Emissions takes off

The announcement of a new force in the world of LED displays was made during PLASA in London last month. Light Emissions is led by industry veteran Peter Ed (pictured) and specialises in taking best-of-breed large LED display technology into fixed installation markets, such as museums, retail, themed venues and top end interior design. R&D is led by Sergej Mironov and Peter Milligan is the financial director.

“We formed the company to meet requirements of designers needing to build video based graphics into the very fabric of their projects,” explained Peter Ed. “Though low resolution LED video is often used in entertainment, there is little to support the needs of installers and operators of fixed installations.”

A major feature of Light Emissions products will be its focus on ease of installation and simplicity of service and maintenance. Importantly, graphic media is kept wholly in the digital video domain, avoiding complex programming and expensive controllers needed when using networked DMX.

“Nowadays, creating, distributing and playing video is straightforward and inexpensive, and our large displays will integrate easily with normal video screens,” observed Ed. “Not forgetting that when sticking with digital video, you will always get clear and crisp graphics and images.”

Light Emissions will be launching its first products this autumn. Art is a low to medium resolution RGB display system using tile-like LED PCBs that can be configured to be any shape and size. The Brain is a video processing unit with enhanced functionality for fixed installations.
