Legrand completes acquisition of Middle Atlantic16 June 2011
The deal means that Middle Atlantic Products becomes Legrand, North America’s new commercial AV division focused on AV products and solutions for commercial, residential, security and broadcast applications.
The combined Legrand/Middle Atlantic business is now able to offer more than 5,000 AV products and services.
Middle Atlantic will operate as an independent business with Legrand. Mike Baker continues to serve as Middle Atlantic president as well as leading up a new fifth division – commercial AV – for Legrand in North America.
For Legrand, the acquisition of Middle Atlantic paves the way for it to establish a ‘leadership position’ in AV infrastructure products, systems and solutions. As part of this, the combined business will be able to draw on Middle Atlantic’s sales relationship with more than 3,500 integrators in the US and Canada.
Speaking prior to completion of the deal, Legrand, North America president and chief executive officer John Selldorff (pictured) commented: “The complementary strengths of these businesses, and the fit of the product offerings will be unmatched by any other supplier in this industry. The combined leadership team is looking forward to making a real difference to the installation community, and the entire AV market, now and for the future.”
Subsequent to the acquisition going through, Baker remarked: “The Middle Atlantic brand, operations and services are continuing as they always have, so our customers can continue to expect the exceptional experience we work hard to deliver every day. Now that we have the backing and support of a global company, we will be able to consider new products and services that will only increase our ability to serve our customers and the installation community going forward.”
The InfoComm 2011 trade show found Middle Atlantic Products introducing several new product lines, including a new rack series with patent-pending features. Executives from Legrand and Middle Atlantic attended the show, meeting with customers and others to answer questions and gather feedback.
