KEF expands KHT range

test 7 October 2009

The product line now includes a new Soundbar Home Theatre System, the KHT8005, writes David Davies. Devised to complement today’s sleek flat-panel TVs, the new system is structured around the new HTF8003 three-channel Soundbar, which produces the KHT8005’s front soundstage from a single acoustically inert aluminium enclosure that delivers its performance from three separate loudspeakers.

Each of the three channels is comprised of a three-way speaker system containing a KEF Uni-Q driver with 75mm (3in) mid-bass driver and 15mm (0.6in) HF driver, a 75mm (3in) woofer, and 75mm (3in) ABR (auxiliary bass radiator) for optimised bass output.

Sized to balance flat panel TVs of 42in or larger, the high-gloss black HTF8003 Soundbar is supplied with both a wall-mount bracket and table stand.

Meanwhile, the rear-channel sound is provided by the HTS7001 satellite speakers, which incorporate dual 50mm (2in) woofers and 19mm (0.75in) HF driver. The system is completed by a KUBE-2 subwoofer, which features a 200W Class-D amplifier and side-firing 250mm (10in) long-throw bass driver with 250mm (10in) ABR.

Steve Halsall, UK assistant managing director at KEF Audio, told IE Residential: “As the UK market leader in this category for the last five years, KEF is always looking to offer the right solutions for our trade partners to satisfy end-user needs. This new system offers the usual KEF performance in a more TV-friendly way, while allowing the dealer to supply AV receivers and cables, giving a far superior result for the consumer than conventional ‘soundbars’.”
