A unique and fascinating opportunity for an Audio Visual Production Specialist to based on a Cultural Museum development project in Saudi Arabia. The position is expected to last until July 2018 with the possibility of extension beyond this.

About the project

Museum is the one of most ambitious heritage projects combining restoration, reconstruction and building new facilities currently being undertaken in the world. It will be turned into the major cultural tourist destination in the Middle East and will draw large numbers of visitor to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.The project will entail not only the restoration of the museum, but also surrounding buildings and the complex infrastructure to sustain and run on a daily basis, a ‘living museum’ and cultural tourist destination.

About the role

The Audio Visual Content Manager will coordinate, review and give constructive feedback to the contractor’s Audio Visual Digital Content production on a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The client has supplied the content and conceptual storyboards.Responsibilities will include managing the AV production on behalf of the client making sure that a consistent high aesthetic and technical quality is achieved. Contribution to AV content in context to the exhibition development, collection documentation, policy development and undertaking research related to the content where required.To deliver the project to the clients expectations, you will be required to contribute bringing the vision to life and to oversee, develop and drive an inspired, innovative and deeply meaningful audio visual content program for the exhibitions and interactive activities.

The aim of the AV is to inform and educate the public of the history of the site and the historical events that occurred here. It’s essential the AV be constructed with coherence and innovation so the content appeals to a wide cross-section of the general public.To be successful you must have significant experience in managing projects from ideas generation, research and development, commissioning, timeline and installation project management, de-installation and evaluation. You must also have experience across a broad range of technical approaches and disciplines within the AV context working with historic, site specific and commissioned materials.Beyond the technical requirements you will be attracted to working in a deeply values oriented environment, be highly collaborative and enjoy working with diverse groups and materials.

There can be an overlap with the existing client museum team. It’s becoming common for museums, galleries, heritage and tourism attractions to develop collaborative relationships and share ideas, as well as their expertise.Responsibilities The specific responsibilities will vary from location to location across the site. A small existing team of museum designers and architects will also be on site with responsibility for all other areas of the overall museum delivery.

Specific responsibilities are likely to include:

-Understand and embrace the completed project research and content fully;

– Review contractors AV content to ensure they are accessible and engaging to the general public;

– A thorough understanding in dealing with computer-generated moving/still imagery and website software as part of enhancing visitor interaction and experience;

– Planning, organising, interpreting and presenting exhibits to the client;

– Collection documentation and management;

– Collaborating with other museum experts (on site)

– Handling enquiries from contractors researchers and creative staff

– Dealing with enquiries from clients and stakeholders;

– Liaising with client management to secure approvals for the contractors proposals;

– Demonstrated experience in a cultural institution will be highly regarded;

– Prioritise and monitor the gallery’s critical activities in accordance with the Action plan timelines.

– Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills, with highly developed written and oral communication skills, and proven ability to work with creative and diverse teams with a commitment to superior customer service delivery.

More about you

-Applicants must demonstrate a strong background and significant achievements in digital production and/or the preservation and management of cultural collections, in the AV or other relevant industries.

A tertiary qualification in arts, media studies related discipline, such as moving image, archiving, computer science, or library information science.

Experience with the installation of media works preferable especially in the museum/gallery environment.

Familiarity with condition checking of video/digital works, knowledge of software-based film-based works desirable.

Experience in creating conservation documentation providing condition assessment and capturing installation.
