InstallAwards finalists: Residential Best Project Award

For the final InstallAwards preview, we look closely at the Best Project Award for the Residential category, which covers installations in private houses but is also open to projects in multi-dwelling units.

For the best project award we will be looking for evidence of as many of the following as possible:

– Technical innovation

– Elegant design – technical or aesthetic

– Meeting or exceeding the client brief

– Expansion capability/futureproofing

Bismarck, North Dakota install – Atlona

Every family member now has access to media entertainment through their own suite with parental control of all 14 displays from the master bedroom.

Integrator TJ Farrell of Greenlight Systems outfitted the 11,000sqft home giving the homeowners access to entertainment throughout with the 14 displays located in the five bedroom suites, living room, family room, kitchen, office, home theatre, game room, garage, and the outdoor patio area.

The system recommended by the integrator included an Elan control system, and Autonomic Mirage Audio System, Apple TV, and DirectTV all connected through Atlona’s 16×16 matrix switcher.

Kingston upon Thames/Grey Timbers – KNX Controls/Ivory Egg

To create this integrated home solution, the faulty control system was replaced with a smart home system to control lighting and heating reliably and efficiently through touch keypads.

One of the primary objectives was for the house to provide an ample entertainment space, in particular a flexible lighting and heating solution was required. Ivory Egg supplied bespoke KNX products from suppliers Basalte and Gira.

Surrey Family Home – ClearSphere

Residential Surrey Home

The fully integrated control system in this spacious Surrey home provides control of AV, heating and lighting throughout on a room-by-room or floorplan overview basis ,which allows voice paging and monitoring and control of AV, heating and lighting throughout.

This is the second installation ClearSphere have undertaken for this family, having installed a Crestron system in their previous Fulham home.

Home in Naples – RTI

An all-inclusive home automation system was installed in this apartment providing control of the home’s electronic systems as well as a number of AV entertainment components.

Integrators ClicHome designed the system for the 1,614sqft apartment, which provides the owner with control of the home’s electronic systems including lighting, blinds and HVAC. The equipment used also needed to fit in with the residence’s modernist style and high standards of design.

To enable centralised control across the home’s electronic systems, the integrator selected RTI’s XP-6 control processor. RTI’s RTiPanel app for iPad was implemented with a custom designed interface that allows users to activate, manage, and control every aspect of the home. When not in use, the iPad fits into a docking station to maintain the apartment’s minimalist design.
