INNOVASON console for Budapest live performance flagship7 July 2008
The INNOVASON console purchased by the Budapest Operetta also features 16 AES/EBU inputs and 40 AES/EBU/analogue outputs. The inputs are sent to the mixing position via a DioCore digital stagebox which also enables digital audio networking over EtherSound.
Ease of use and rapidity of manoeuvre were among the decisive factors in determining the choice of console. “The Sy80, as well as sounding good, is absolutely perfect for these demands, and is capable of solving many more difficult technical tasks besides,” commented the venue’s chief sound engineer, Lazlo Fazekas. “For example, many of our productions will be using between 45 and 50 microphones on stage, and up to another 50 channels coming from the orchestra. The Sy80 can handle all of those channels simultaneously with no problem.”
The installation reinforces an impression of resurgence surrounding INNOVASON following the announcement in April that Lawo had acquired a majority shareholding in the company, thereby rescuing the French console manufacturer from receivership. Interviewed for a feature about digital consoles that is due to appear in the July issue of IE’s sister publication, Pro Sound News Europe, INNOVASON sales and marketing director Xavier Pion revealed that demand for the company’s products is also strong in the touring, festival and theatre businesses. “The domestic market for us in France is particularly buoyant, which is great to see, but we’re also making healthy inroads into parts of Europe,” he said.
