InFocus has acquired Avistar, a videoconferencing software company specialising in technology that enables video calling from a number of mobile devices, as well as touchscreen solutions and large-format videowalls.

This takeover follows the company’s recent acquisition of Jupiter Systems and adds software depth to the InFocus end-to-end collaboration portfolio.

The move allows InFocus to offer videoconferencing solutions for connection to a distant classroom all the way up to linking entire global infrastructures. Providing videoconferencing that suits a broad range of budgets has been key to driving the wider adoption of advanced technology by making solutions accessible for different sized businesses, schools and facilities.

Avistar software technology is already deployed in the Mondopad videoconferencing system as well as the various calling services, such as ConX, InFocus provides.

“Growth and depth in all areas is a key focus for us this year,” said Mark Housley, InFocus CEO. “This acquisition expedites our ability to leverage software to more rapidly create and enhance the human experience of connecting, to anyone, anywhere.”

With the purchase, InFocus has acquired all assets and will continue to leverage the global team of two-dozen software engineers to continue innovating and improving the videoconferencing intellectual property.
