InfoComm International to exhibit at BEST built environment show13 October 2010
InfoComm International is to exhibit at the Built Environment Solutions & Technologies (BEST) tradeshow in Birmingham next week. Co-located with a series of events aimed at different peer groups within the construction industry, this new event is designed to bring architects, building designers and engineers together to meet suppliers of innovative construction products.
The InfoComm stand will emphasise the ability of audiovisual (AV) technology to bring all kinds of buildings to life – from offices and classrooms to auditoria, sports arenas, hotels and shopping centres. The stand will be manned by a mixture of InfoComm staff and volunteers from the association’s membership, ensuring that BEST show attendees can get real-world advice directly from AV integrators.
Chris Lavelle, InfoComm International’s regional manager for the UK and Ireland, commented: “Within the AV industry, the advantages of a fully integrated audiovisual system are well understood and appreciated. Beyond it, however, there is a need to communicate the benefits of AV to a wider audience, starting with the people who plan the buildings into which AV is installed: architects, building designers and consultants. By taking a stand at BEST, we are reaffirming our commitment to ‘spreading the word’ about the benefits of AV beyond the confines of our own industry.”
Developments in technology – most notably the convergence between AV and IT networks – make the need for this outreach all the greater, as modern AV hardware can more easily be embedded into a building’s infrastructure at an early stage. But as well as promoting the need to plan for AV, InfoComm will also be underlining the importance of using CTS-accredited professionals to carry out system design and installation work.
“The letters ‘CTS’ after a name on a business card show that the holder is accredited by InfoComm as a Certified Technology Specialist – the most widely-recognised qualification in the audiovisual industry,” Lavelle concluded. The CTS credential is the only AV certification that is accredited to the ISO 17024 standard.
InfoComm International will be on Stand 05-D94 at BEST, NEC Birmingham, from 18-20 October 2010.
