Imerge lays claim to “world’s most advanced media server”

test 24 February 2010

The MS1-HD hard disk home media server replaces the integral DVD drive of the MS1 with a Blu-ray mechanism. With the same ability as its predecessor to upscale content from DVDs to 1080p, the MS1-HD also allows users to store and playback content from Blu-ray Discs “in all their native 1080p glory”.

Likened to an “audio/visual jukebox” for the delivery of high-definition digital entertainment throughout the home, the MS1-HD has a specification including: a purpose-built non-PC architecture for audiophile/videophile performance; an integral Blu-ray drive that reads content from CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray Discs to store on hard drives; full HD (1080p) video playback via HDMI; audiophile-grade audio board with Wolfson Delta-Sigma 24-bit DACs; a ‘future-proof’ architecture that can be upgraded via free downloadable updates; extensive connectivity, including Imerge’s enhanced XiVA-Link technology for multi-room control; integration with leading touchscreen control systems; and control options for Apple iPhone/iPod touch.

In addition, the XiVASafe chassis can deliver 12TB storage – sufficient for 18,000 uncompressed album-length CDs, 1,800 DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.

Cameron Wade, CEO of Imerge, commented: “The ‘Imerge experience’ is all about unparalleled performance, functionality and simplicity, and as our flagship server component the MS1-HD is the ultimate embodiment of our core values – a ‘statement product’ in the truest sense of the term. We now live in a high-definition world, and the MS1-HD delivers an incomparable multi-room entertainment experience across all types of media. Its range of features, exceptional flexibility, sound quality and HD video performance make it truly unique.”
