ILS lectern – more functions, half the price

test 12 November 2009

Intelligent Lectern Systems€ recently decided to completely redesign its SpeakersCorner lectern systems, to widen their market beyond the existing military, government and institutional users into hotels and company training facilities.

To achieve volume manufacturing savings, ILS partnered with a Chinese manufacturer of lecterns, insisting that it use quality components. The result is the new ILS24, which is similar to, but different from, its predecessor in roughly equal measure. What has remained includes the overall style, the side tablets, VESA mounting and tilt, rack space, compact design and footprint, XLR sockets, and two-monitor wiring and switching.

What_s new? The system can now accommodate any 17in-22in monitor as primary display inside the cabinet. A 12in touchpanel is built in as a secondary display: this can act as room control system interface, confidence monitor, streaming system console or even teleprompter. A spare cube-shaped area can slide out as space for smaller AMX, Crestron or Extron equipment. There_s also a document drawer, which can be used as a work surface or to store a document camera.

The new ILS24 is available in two versions: one for systems integrators (at around the _3,000 mark) to add their choice of display, rack equipment and PC, and a fully featured version (around _5,000) including both displays, microphones, notebook hook-up, 200W amplifier, room control system, webcam integration, presenter software and support services software. This, says ILS, represents an increase in functionality for less than half the price of the previous version of the product.

ILS is planning to launch the product at BETT or ISE, but IE readers can get a sneak preview of the new ILS24 at the link below.
