Iconic Paris hotel eliminates set top boxes with Tripleplay11 September 2014
The eye-catching Melià La Defense, one of Paris’ newest hotels, is running a set-top-box-free in-room entertainment system to its 369 rooms having implemented Tripleplay’s IPTV solution, TripleTV.
The hotel is built on the river Seine and is designed to look like the sail of a boat. Rooms offer attractive views of some of France’s most iconic landmarks.
The new solution, which runs LG SmartTVs at the front end, has been assembled in conjunction with Tripleplay distributor, Future Broadband and LG distributor Caverin. Each TV is Melià branded and incorporates internal power removing the need for an external set top box. Guests have access to in-room entertainment, information and services via the displays.
“Melià is a great brand and this new hotel is incredibly impressive,” commented Carlos Amoros, Tripleplay’s MD for Europe. “For our solution to be selected alongside the LG SmartTV is credit to our product and to the work done by our development team to create a platform that works without the power of the external STB.
“We are looking forward to working with our partners, the hotel contractors and the hotel itself to implement a system that fits in with the wonderful environment being created at Melià la Defense.”
