Habitech launches HDBaseT Lite24 July 2012
The newly established commercial division of Habitech, HabitechPro, is launching a new HD content distribution technology, HDBaseT Lite.
The three WyreStorm matrix switches featuring the technology – all with serial and IR control ports – provide simultaneous HDMI and UTP outputs, which have capacities ranging from 4 x 4 (four HDMI inputs, four UTP outputs and four HDMI outputs) to 6 x 6 and 8 x 8.
The system allows installers to handle ‘five play’ convergence – video, audio, internet, control and power – over single Cat6 cable runs. It can distribute 1080p uncompressed HD signals for up to 70m without the use of extenders.
It is designed to manage and obviate the problems associated with networks using HDMI sources, which require constant source identification and content validation (EDID and HDCP) to ensure the system operates without infringing copyright.
HDBaseTLite is a development of the HDBaseT (HDBT) standard established by WyreStorm and other distribution system manufacturers. The Lite version is designed to handle mid-market installations with 4 x 4 or 8 x 8 matrices and does not include the ability to carry out Ethernet distribution.
Optional in-line scalers are available so that the system can be used to carry ‘legacy’ AV formats such as VGA and composite/component video, and other accessory products include UTP receivers and point-to-point extension kits.
Features of the system, which was developed by WyreStorm, include central RS232 control, with integration protocols available so that the HDBaseTLite products can be managed by AMX, Control4 and Crestron; two-way IR control; and 3D compatibility with Blu-ray and satellite transmission.
The HDBaseT Lite products can handle 2k resolution and work at a bandwidth of 6.75Gbps.
