Glee-ful installation for Martin Audio1 October 2010
Further to previous IE coverage of Soundcraft systems at Nottingham’s new Glee Club, details have now emerged of the Martin Audio installation at the same venue. Audio and lighting systems at the latest Glee Club venue were installed by Pacific Sound & Light.
The need to ensure even coverage across the frequency range in a venue that features a letterbox balcony with raked seating and problematic sightlines led to the specification of an audio system from Martin Audio – a brand used by Pacific Sound & Light’s Paul Duffy in many previous projects.
Following a demo at Martin Audio’s High Wycombe HQ, Duffy pressed ahead with a solution based around the manufacturer’s W8VDQ line array/differential dispersion hybrid system. Multiple W8VDQs – mounted in pairs on the steel stanchions in the main space – have been installed, while a pair of WS218X subs for low-end extension can be relocated to the second room if required. A further pair of W8VDQs have been fitted in the smaller first floor room, with outfill duties handled by a pair of AQ8s.
Processing is provided by a DX2 (main room) and a DX1.5 (second space), while LE1200s are available for monitoring. The primary systems are driven by MA6.8Q and MA4.6 amplifiers.
“The owners have always been happy with Martin Audio, which consistently exceeds their expectations,” said Duffy.
As previously reported on IE, Pacific Sound & Light has also installed a pair of Soundcraft mixing desks as well as lighting equipment at Glee Club, Nottingham. To read that coverage, click here.
