Just Add Popcorn and AWE create luxury property in Tunbridge Wells
High-end custom install distributor, AWE, has recently been involved in a complete renovation project for a luxury property in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. With the homeowner requiring high-end AV systems to be integrated seamlessly into the property, an expert installer company was needed. Step forward Sussex-based installer, Just Add Popcorn.
Having recently purchased the property, the client embarked on remodelling the interior. Joining the project right from the beginning, Just Add Popcorn was able to incorporate all the wiring at the ‘first-fix’ stage, providing ample time to plan the system and draw up detailed wiring plans for the locations of the cables and termination points.
As a URC dealer, the installer immediately decided that URC Total Control would be the best system for this project. This clever control system allowed Just Add Popcorn to replace the many manufacturer controllers which would have naturally been expected for the scale of this project. Instead, multiple controls have been replaced by two URC TRC-1280 controllers to cater for all aspects of video, audio, lighting and security across the entire property by the single touch of a button.
URC’s Total Control System was also implemented significantly across this project to aid the client’s request for multiroom audio. A seven-zone audio system allowed the client to stream music directly from the Internet and access their personal music collection stored on an iMac. An audio output from the central iMac allowed for any audio online to be streamed to any room around the home. The music system was entirely controlled via the URC controller device, allowing the client to choose a song and create play lists from anywhere in the house.
Other equipment supplied by AWE included the award-winning KEF in-ceiling speakers. With the intricate and extensive work applied to this property to ensure an immersive audio experience, it was imperative the sound system would work to the same high-quality. Renowned for its superb audio quality, seamless integration and URC control compatibility, all social areas of this house, such as the kitchen and lounge, were fitted with KEF’s Ci160 speakers. The owner was particularly impressed with the integration of these speakers. Rather than disrupting the aesthetics of the room, the sleek and subtle finish of the speakers complement the interior design.
Panasonic’s LED TVs were installed in the main bedroom, kitchen and lounge. These 47-inch wall-mounted, adjustable screens feature built-in Freeview and Freesat as well as access to the property’s HDanywhere Modular Matrix. With HDanywhere, the connection of up to four high definition services can be shared between four TVs no matter where they are located within the home.
As a grand finale for this large-scale project, Just Add Popcorn decided to install a high-end, but discrete cinema system, consisting of a URC DMS-AV Amplifier, five KEF In-Ceiling Speakers and a KEF Subwoofer. By using a URC-AV for the amplification, the unit was easily incorporated into the Total Control System, allowing the homeowner to select the services required at the touch of a button. Allowing for future expansion, the room was also wired for a projector and screen.
“We could not be happier with the end result for this huge project,” explains Stuart Burgess, managing director of Just Add Popcorn. “The fantastic range of products distributed by AWE meant it was a quick and easy process when specifying products for the entire home. URC Total Control was particularly popular with the homeowner, who could not believe all aspects of home technology could be controlled from a single controller.”
