Five sessions not to miss at DSS Europe 201729 June 2017
To give you a flavour of what’s on offer at Digital Signage Summit Europe on 5-6 July, here is our pick of five of the sessions on the programme.
Digital Signage Summit Europe (DSS Europe), the leading business strategy conference for digital signage and digital out-of-home (DOOH) professionals takes place at the ICM in Munich on 5-6 July.
The conference theme is ‘Digital Signage at the Crossroads – New Technology, Changing Demand and Market Consolidation’. On both days the twin conference tracks will feature presentations and panel discussions covering DOOH and Smart Cities and Digital Signage and Retail Experiences.
More than 40 leading experts will identify the strategies that can be delivered through digital signage and DOOH technologies.
Here are our favourite five sessions:
Mobile data’s revolutionary role
The pace of modern life means that people are often on the move; and so the mobile customer journey is of increasing importance for companies looking to engage their target audiences. Out-of-home communications agency Jost von Brandis claims it is uniquely capable of illustrating the movements of any potential target group: by the end of the year, it aims to be able to provide target contacts for every street section and for every target group, at any time.
In a session entitled: ‘Changing the game: mobile data intelligence is the key for successful consumer communication’, CEO Udo Schendel will draw on his deep understanding of the project to explain how retailers can connect with potential customers during the buying decision.
Solar smart city signage
Electronic paper is emerging as the new disruptive technology in solar-powered digital signage, as it provides real-time transit, wayfinding and security information, without the need for expensive installations. It is also readable in direct sunlight consumes little energy. Visionect has been involved in 95% of global pilot projects. Its CEO, Jaka Stele, will present insights and learning points from these pilots and provide specific recommendations from proof of concept to largescale deployments.
Changing the customer relationship
Touchwindow’s technical strategist ambassador, Daniele Tomè, will present ‘Touchwindow for IKEA: How Technology has changed the consumer-retailer relationship and how stores must become media’. Daniele will explain how the company’s work at IKEA ELNÒS SHOPPING in Brescia, Italy, has engaged shoppers with interactive directories, relax touchtables, children’s stations and interactive areas, videowalls and touchwalls with games, and a complex digital signage system.
Smart cities, smart advertising
Madina Tenizova, founder of BillboardVideo, will present her company’s innovative, intelligent, data-driven, digital signage platform that provides an integrated DOOH solution for smart cities and smart retailers. Using the network of outdoor digital LED media boards, the solution automatically collects, processes and provides commercial and social advertising, traffic navigation and other public information. Video analytics collects relevant data in real time. The session is entitled ‘Digital ambient media – Smart advertising in smart city’.
A new light on fitting rooms
As one of the primary points of sale, the fitting room is becoming increasingly relevant in the shopping experience. Niklas Reiners, a designer with Ansorg Lighting, will show how sophisticated lighting has an increasing role to play here. Reiners’ presentation, ‘Fitting Room 4.0 – Elevating the shopping experience – how light and digital impact the purchasing process’ will explore how light plays a major role in transforming the fitting room from a purely functional area. Ansorg has reimagined lighting for fitting rooms and developed target-group-specific solutions based on its own lighting technology.
