First NFC Bootcamp to run at Screenmedia expo

Near Field Communication (NFC) Bootcamp will host its first international event at London’s Screenmedia expo (Earls Court, 16-17 May).  OTA Training, a global RFID training and certification company, and Merchant 360, a point of sale technology developer, will co-present the NFC Bootcamp from 9.00am to 5.00pm on both days of the show. The NFC ecosystem is widely used as a payment mechanism, and the people behind the technology say the system can also be used for marketing-based applications to increase revenue. The first globally standardised Near Field Communication Bootcamp series is set to educate attendees on how they can harness NFC technology to drive brand awareness.  As a special feature of this inaugural NFC Bootcamp event, the NFC Showcase will be located on the Screenmedia expo trade show floor where companies working in the field of NFC will be able to show attendees from both events how the technology works.   “Near field communication will change forever how consumers engage with digital media. There is no better place to come and understand the impact this technology is going to have on the industry then at Screenmedia expo,” said Robert Sabella, CEO & founder of OTA Training, which produces the NFC Bootcamp series. “We are very pleased to launch our European expansion in conjunction with this great event. It demonstrates the continual commitment that the Screenmedia expo has in bringing the most important and relevant technology developments to their attendees.”   “Screenmedia expo is evolving in line with the continued convergence of digital place based media platforms so for 2012 we will be showcasing more connected devices and important emerging technologies such as NFC,” said Mark Pigou (pictured), show director at Screen Events, organisers of Screenmedia expo. “Having this specialist NFC Bootcamp at the expo adds great value to visitors wanting to learn what this powerful technology is and how to use it to further brand reach and impact.”
