Epson introduces HD ready projector for home cinema enthusiasts

test 3 October 2006

Epson has launched a new HD-ready projector, the EMP-TW700, which is being aimed at movie enthusiasts seeking a premium home cinema experience says the company.

The projector features 3LCD technology, high contrast ratio of 10000:1 and 1600 ANSI lumens of brightness, native 16:9 resolution of 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, a high resolving 2.1x zoom lens and HDMI input.

The super high contrast ratio of 10000:1 is the result of Epsonís Auto Iris Optical System, which controls the intensity of light from the lamp. The viewer benefits from deeper blacks and improved grey scaling in dark scenes and enhanced crispness and clarity in bright scenes. The inclusion of an advanced 2.1x zoom lens with 80lp/mm resolving power provides images that are crisp and sharp, says Espon. The lens also contains 14 sub-lenses including two aspherical lenses that function to reduce colour flare. The EMP-TW700 also features Epsonís Cinema Filter for light rooms (dynamic mode) and darker environments (theatre black).

The EMP-TW700 will project a 60inch screen size from just 1.8m away for smaller screening rooms, plus its horizontal and vertical lens shift technology allows the projector to be placed in a range of positions with no distortion to the projected image.

Phillip Oldham, senior product manager Video Projectors, Epson Europe, says, "The EMP-TW700 is the projector of choice for those who want to recreate a true home cinema experience. Itís HD ready and combined with Epsonís 3LCD technology, images are of incredible clarity ñ it almost feels like youíre amongst the action. The high contrast ratio and advanced lens add further sharpness to the projection, producing the clearest images."
