Engage Production has built an augmented reality (AR) app as part of the Middle Eastern launch of the Porsche Panamera – with Avantgarde Middle East.
Engage Production, specialist in interactive technologies for branded environments, has built an augmented reality (AR) app as part of the Middle Eastern launch of the Porsche Panamera – with Avantgarde Middle East. Touring dealerships throughout eight countries, the app is installed on two iPads, which form part of a bespoke stand. Engage was responsible for asset generation and application build, with Avantgarde handling concept and design of assets.
A holding page on each iPad encourages customers to pick up the iPad and offers instruction on how to use it. There are five AR markers on each car, and the app urges users to find each of these by using live camera view. The markers trigger a variety of content in the form of stills, text, video and animation. Whilst this content highlights certain features of the car such as speed, aerodynamics and colour, this is contrasted and juxtaposed with lifestyle content.
“We were asked to deliver an app that offers a high-level view of the product and brand as well as an introduction to the Panamera’s features,” explains Steve Blyth, managing director of Engage. “We have geared this app specifically towards the customer to provide them with a unique and immersive experience.”
The app does more than just react to markers. It can also tell which markers have been completed or only partially completed and will prompt the user or suggest next steps accordingly.
Data capture is available through the app, offering further info to users who supply their email addresses. The data capture is forwarded to the regional sales team as well as to the specific dealership from which it is being operated, and enables that dealership to track leads.
