Electrosonic promotes Smith to GM, service for EMEA

Electrosonic has promoted Rob Smith to general manager of service for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Smith (pictured) will be responsible for all service activities, including service sales, managed services, service and maintenance and service administration for users of AV systems within the corporate, control rooms and leisure markets. He will work with the service team to promote and expand Electrosonic’s service offerings.

He joined Electrosonic in 2010 as client account manager for the Cultural Entertainment and Leisure (CEL) team, and was promoted to sales manager CEL where he spent the last year developing the entertainment business. His new role will see Smith responsible for new initiatives to grow both the service and managed services businesses. He will remain on the Electrosonic EMEA Leadership Team, now representing the service business.

“Rob was a natural choice for the role of General Manager of Service EMEA,” said Sarah Joyce, vice president EMEA. “Throughout his two years at Electrosonic, he has shown great dedication and passion for every project he has been involved with. He will now use his knowledge and inherent leadership skills to continue to develop the service business throughout EMEA. I am delighted to congratulate him in his promotion and look forward to working closely with him in this fundamental area of our business.”

Smith has spent twenty years in the AV industry, initially as an installation and service technician, then performing the roles of service manager, project engineer and project manager, responsible for delivering projects and ensuring customer satisfaction. Prior to joining the AV industry, Rob served in the Royal Air Force as an avionics engineer.
