E/T/C Paris and Robert Lepage birth Quebec City AV spectacular

test 7 July 2008

Created as part of Quebec City’s 400th anniversary celebrations, the project took a decisive step forward when Lepage enlisted the help of E/T/C Paris in 2006. The solution resulting from their deliberations revolves around 27 Christie Roadster S+20K DLP video projectors, with E/T/C’s Onlyview multimedia control platform handling the programming, transmission and broadcasting of images, animations and videos, along with the synchronisation of the soundtrack, which will be simulcast on local radio.

Challenges encountered during the project included the average 33m height of the projection being generally too great to cover with a single device. E/T/C resolved the issue by placing video projectors vertically to maximise their active DLP area and brightness.

The video projectors are all linked together via TCP/IP, with the video distribution realised by DVI via a fibre optic network.

“It is a huge achievement to accomplish such an immense video projection without loss of quality, luminosity or synchronisation,” said E/T/C Paris’ director of marketing, Patrice Bouqueniaux. “E/T/C is proud to participate in such a ground-breaking event and of being offered the opportunity to collaborate with Ex Machina’s fantastic team.”
