Dolby Lake processors installed at leading New York sporting venue

test 7 April 2008

The multi-purpose HSBC Arena is home to two major teams (National Hockey League’s Buffalo Sabres and the National Lacrosse League’s Buffalo Bandits) and also hosts a variety of other sporting events, along with concerts, ice shows and other events. The venue can seat from 18,500 (concerts) to 19,200 (basketball games).

While the Dolby Lake Processors may be controlled from a wireless tablet, the arena’s technical team is using a rack-mount computer. Other equipment installed includes a JBL Variable Line Array (VLA) speaker system, driven by QSC PowerLight 3 Series amplifiers, and a Yamaha M7CL digital console.

Bruce Jackson, v-p pro products, live sound at Dolby Laboratories, Inc, told II: “One of the key benefits of the Dolby Lake Processor is being able to wirelessly adjust settings from anywhere in the venue on an easy-to-use graphic interface. Plus, integration with Smaart analysis software means that the operator can also monitor the sound system’s performance on the same computer screen. Coupled with the superior sonic properties of the converters and the audio signal path, the system’s benefits and flexibility make the Dolby Lake Processors suitable for any application, from entertainment to sports, in a venue such as HSBC Arena.”
