Digital Vision opens new Hong Kong office as Asia Pacific expansion continues

The Hong Kong office, says Digital Vision, will enable the company to support locally its growing presence in the region and provide a base for further expansion of the business in this emerging market. A long list of recent clients in the Asia Pacific region includes Digital Video (India), Moon Beams (Japan), Hua Long (China) and Post Lounge (Australia).

Supporting the expansion will be Peter Charles, who brings strong relationships with resellers and customers in Asia, Europe, Africa and Australasia from his stints at DVS and, prior to that, Quantel and Scitex Europe. “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Digital Vision in this exciting new position,” commented Charles. “The Digital Vision products are of the highest quality and performance in the industry, and this is bolstered by the committed and knowledgeable team that Digital Vision has supporting and selling them.”

Asked to nominate priority territories within this region for the next few years, Digital Vision president and COO Simon Cuff told II: “Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea are all significant geographies. Japan is retooling and has historically been one of the biggest territories for Digital Vision. China and India are very keen to have the latest and greatest products, and want to be able to offer the same service levels as you would expect in a Hollywood facility.”

Cuff also revealed to II that industry professionals should look out for a number of significant product developments from the company during the next six months, including more automatic enhancement and restoration tools. Digital Vision is also addressing multi-format mastering (“we are focusing on ensuring the highest quality pictures no matter what target formats your content will be distributed by”) and software standards conversion.
