D.A.S. Audio deployed at Stjarnan F C home stadium8 August 2012
Icelandic football club Stjarnan FC, which plays in the KSI Premiere League, had its stadium deployed with a D.A.S. Audio professional sound system as part of a recent audio upgrade. The club gained worldwide recognition for its goal celebrations – especially choreographed depictions of fishing – which surfaced on YouTube and the UK TV Channel Sky Sports News.
For the club’s home games, the stadium had previously used various portable PA systems for announcements. Garòabær-based Northern Lights Audio – a design/build firm specialising in audio, video and lighting solutions for both the professional and residential markets – was contracted to design and install a new permanent sound reinforcement system for the stadium. To cater for crowds of around 2,500 people, four of D.A.S. Audio’s DR-12 2-way, full-range loudspeakers were installed throughout the staidum’s rafters. These are augmented by two BiDriver Plus systems, which are 2-way, mid-high units designed for long throw applications, deployed in the parking area and staging- concessions area. Elsewhere, in the announcers area, a D.A.S. Audio DSP-26 stereo/mono processor handles loudspeaker management duties and D.A.S. PS-1400 stereo power amplifiers drive the speakers. Also in the area are Inputs for a Beyerdynamic wireless microphone plus one for a local microphone. “The current setup was installed in May and already there are plans to expand the system,” comments Þorsteinn Halldórsson, owner of Northern Lights Audio. “Shortly, we will be adding two additional BiDriver Plus systems for the field and the back area. This was a pretty straight-forward installation and I must say that D.A.S. Audio representative Claus Behrens and his team was very supportive. Any questions we had were answered expediently.” www.dasaudio.com
