Crestron iPod controller has video

test 7 August 2009

Crestron’s latest product integrates the full iPod experience into a whole-house audio system. The new CEN-IDOCV, the next-generation interface and control solution for the iPod, provides two-way communication to communicate with iTunes – video as well as audio – via Crestron touchpanels.

Featuring Crestron’s exclusive USB over Ethernet technology, the CEN-IDOCV can synchronise the iPod with any networked computer running Apple iTunes. PoE compatible, the controller draws power through the LAN wiring. Once an iPod is plugged into the docking station, a user’s entire personal media collection can be accessed throughout the house and on any Crestron video touchpanel.

Robin van Meeuwen, Crestron UK MD and international sales director, explained: “Integrating an iPod into a home audio system is one of the hottest trends in the custom install industry. The new CEN-IDOCV builds on the success of our hugely popular iPod interface and control solution, by adding video output and several other new features. With the CEN-IDOCV users can have full iPod functionality from a whole house audio system via a Crestron touchpanel”

Using the latest Apple authentication chip, the controller enables high-speed browsing. IT is compatible with the latest Apple products and features, including sixth generation and newer iPod Classic models as well as additional late model iPod devices. The supplied docking station charges and remotely syncs the iPod with iTunes as if it were directly connected to a computer with the Apple USB cable, delivering full capabilities for organising and transferring music and video files, podcasts, audio books, and playlists.

The personal iPod docking and undocking provided by CEN-IDOCV is ideal for family members on the go, and a perfect complement to the Crestron iServer, which uses the iPod as a dedicated whole house audio server that is always available for whole house entertainment. The CEN-IDOCV-DSW wall mount interface for iPod is coming soon.
