Control4 OS 2.0 now multilingual

Control4 is announcing the launch of its OS 2.0 at ISE 2010, bringing with it three significant benefits when compared with its predecessor.

Perhaps the most important of these benefits is that, historically, the operating system user interface was available in only one language – English. While this hasn’t been a barrier to success – the company says that it experienced ‘fantastic’ growth in 2009 – OS 2.0 brings with it support for modern Latin alphabet languages such as German, French and Spanish. Control4 says that this development has been warmly welcomed by its distributors in those and other countries.

The interface remains a simple out-of-box solution for the installer, according to Control4, but now offers greater customisation features with some choices for the end-user to select. OS 2.0 features enhanced interface graphics which, says the company, clearly display all sources and devices including third party products.

A third improvement is the ease with which information apps can be developed, so that the Control4 ecosystem is transformed into a true information hub as well.

Control4 says that the result is a new and improved user interface bringing benefits to both end-user and installer alike, and claims that new functionality, such as a ‘what’s playing’ bar available on all pages, together with high-level icons showing their respective status, gives OS 2.0 many of the smartest features on the market.

Concurrent with the launch of OS 2.0, Control4 has announced the Control4 App Store, an online marketplace where consumers can purchase and download applications to enhance the functionality of Control4 systems. The App Store, says the company, also provides an opportunity for consumer electronics manufacturers, installers and other developers to expand the features available on the Control4 platform.
