Ciaran Doran to complete Tour de France for Cure Leukaemia

Ciaran Doran has set himself the challenge of cycling every stage of the 2015 Tour de France, just a day ahead of the professional peloton, to raise money for the Cure Leukaemia charity. Setting off alongside Doran, on Friday (3 July) will be ex-England footballer, Geoff Thomas and a team of amateur cyclists.

Doran is the Group CEO of Datasat, a UK-based communications and entertainment solutions specialist. He has also worked for Digital Projection as its international sales and marketing director, EMEA, as well as roles at Sony Professional and Harris.

In his own words Doran explained why he is undertaking this challenge: “Professor Charlie Craddock, who founded Cure Leukaemia, has spent recent years on a determined, perhaps even frenzied, path to find a cure for leukaemia, the blood cancer that takes so many lives each year. He is determined to find this cure ‘in our lifetime’.

“Ten years ago ex-England international footballer and Crystal Palace captain, Geoff Thomas was diagnosed with leukaemia and through the work of Professor Craddock survived. Geoff has made it his life’s passion to raise funds so that more leukaemia patients get access to the right drugs and patient care and have the chance of life that he was blessed with.”

The overall goal is to raise £1m and Doran’s personal target is £50,000.
