Christie: ‘huge increase’ in Cannes digital screenings18 May 2009
Christie has provided fellow Festival technical partner XDC with its CP2000 Series DLP Cinema digital projectors for the screening of major movies during the event. The projectors are being used in conjunction with XDC’s Cinestore Solo G3 servers, which have been implemented in all Festival auditoria.
Early highlights include the deployment of a CP2000-SB projector during last Thursday’s premiere of the new Disney/Pixar 3D movie, Up.
Dale Miller, vice president, EMEA for Christie, commented: “It’s once again a huge privilege to see our digital projectors play such a critical part during this key event. A pioneer in film projection for 80 years, Christie is proud to support the motion picture industry with both its expertise and experience.”
The premiere of Up also made use of a Doremi DCP-2000 digital cinema player. An increasingly popular choice for digital cinema installations, the DCP-2000 has now been installed in more than 1,300 screens across Europe.
Patrick Zucchetta, managing director of Doremi, commented: “We are honoured to be chosen as the cinema player at the Cannes Film Festival. This will be a historical moment with a 3D title opening such an emblematic Festival and we are extremely proud to be part of this screening.”
