CEDIA – three more designers achieve prestigious home cinema standard

test 7 October 2009

The delegates have successfully completed CEDIA’s Certification for Home Cinema Design Specialists course. Out of the five candidates, the three delegates who have achieved the Certification standard are Phillip Warris (pictured, from St Albans-based FAB AV) and Carl Ambrus and Daniel Tumata (both from Essex-based T&T Automation).

The new graduates join Marcus Jackson Baker of What You See And Hear as the only four professionals to hold this qualification.

Pre-qualification for the course required that all candidates already held CEDIA Designer Level 1 Certification. They were then obliged to take and pass an online test prior to being invited to take the examination. The certification was supported by four days’ worth of advanced courses that covered specialist skills including advanced acoustics and home cinema acoustic design, advanced video technology and more. The sessions ended with an advanced home cinema workshop.

The invited candidates sat an examination that was structured into 12 hours over two days. The candidates’ work was judged according to a set of objective criteria by two independent panels, one in the UK and one in the US.

CEDIA’s education manager, Peter Aylett, told IE Residential: "We welcome all those in the CI sector to get involved in the Certification programme. These examinations set an important and demanding quality standard for the industry, and will continue to do so in the years ahead. As such, achieving Certified status in this testing Home Cinema Design examination is a great achievement for these candidates, and a just reward for their skill, diligence and hard work."
