CEDIA revisits interior design technology conference

test 20 August 2009

The trade association has announced that a "repeat performance" of its Designing Interiors with Technology conference will take place in London on 29 September. To be staged in the afternoon of that day in the State Apartment at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, alongside Decorex, the free event aims to inform designers about the benefits of including smart home technology in residential projects, and introduce the work of CEDIA itself.

Presenters will include CEDIA marketing chair and Beyond the Invisible director Jane Scotland, Gibson Music’s Matthew Tillman and Angus Gibson, John Cullen Lighting’s Lucy Martin, and Kensington Home Technology’s Malcolm Stewart. Topics will include an introduction to integrated future-ready homes, trends in lighting design and control, and an A to Z of home electronics jargon.

Fraser Stride from Finite Solutions and CEDIA’s outreach chair told IE Residential: "After the success of the first ‘Designing Interiors with Technology’ event at the 2009 CEDIA Expo we are delighted to announce that CEDIA will be hosting a repeat performance at this year’s Decorex. Feedback was so positive from the inaugural event that, as part CEDIA’s continuing Outreach programme, we are taking this opportunity to educate another 100+ specifiers on the possibilities and design considerations of home technology as well as reinforcing the importance of using a CEDIA member for design and installation of home technology. This conference will serve as a great benefit to our members, increasing the appetite from interior designers and, ultimately, their clients for technology, as well as ensuring that CEDIA members are the natural first port of call for home technology integration."

Sponsored by Decorex, idFX and the BIDA (British Interior Design Association), the conference will begin at 2pm and end at 5pm, and will be followed by a champagne reception and buffet. Delegates will then be able to return to the Decorex show floor, which will be open for an extra hour on this day, until 7pm.
