The figures also reveal that Panasonic has a 48% market share in professional plasma, with its closest competitor on 15%.
Acknowledging the trend for more ‘dynamic’ displays and larger screen sizes, the company alludes to a number of specific developments in explaining its success. Panasonic’s 103in plasma display (seen here at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida) is said to be the world’s largest commercially available PDP, achieving strong sales throughout Europe and beyond, while another, ongoing development finds the manufacturer seeking to enhance its range of environmentally friendly products.
“Steady growth, dominating professional PDP and leading larger size Flat Panel, [that is recognised by these DTC figures] confirms to us that the Panasonic strategy is correct,” Enrique Robledo, European marketing manager for Panasonic PPDE (Professional Plasma Displays, Europe), told II. “Through the only European team exclusively dedicated to the Professional Flat Panel Market, our focus is on understanding the market necessities and [offering] the products to match.
“System integrators know that our product is the most reliable in the market as well as [being] flexible, so with the combination of a faithful network of system integrators throughout Europe, a solutions-orientated organisation and the most suitable products, we expect to keep these high standards continuing into the future.”
