CEDIA Expo – DMi speaker debut

test 11 June 2009

DMi is introducing three in-ceiling designs to its Boston Acoustics brand of high performance CI loudspeakers. The new models – HSi 430, HSi 435 and matching HSi S6W2 subwoofer – are designed to resemble small lighting fixtures, while providing uncompromised sonic performance. The ‘lighting can’ style designs comprise the models HSi 430 and HSi 435 and the matching 6in subwoofer model HSi S6W2. In addition to their small size, the speakers feature a much-reduced visible bezel and magnetically fixed grilles that make installation faster.

The Boston Acoustics HSi 430 features a round bezel and the HSi 435 a square bezel. Both models are 2-way configurations, with 3.5in woofers and .75in tweeters, and each features a metal back enclosure with front firing ports for extended bass response.

The speakers also feature a switchable highpass filter, which removes frequencies below 180Hz for optimum performance when used with a dedicated subwoofer in an installation. The increases the headroom of the system by using the 3.5in for the mid-range only.

The HSi S6W2 in-ceiling subwoofer ships with a round and a square bezel included, along with the magnetic grille to conceal the dual drivers.
