Calibre to launch HQUltra range of 4K scaler-switchers at InfoComm3 June 2015
Calibre is launching the HQUltra range of high-speed 4K scaler-switchers at InfoComm later this month. The switchers incorporate in-house developed virtual-ASIC video processing technology and are claimed to provide the world’s fastest single channel 4K presentation switching performance.
Under the Calibre-Kramer ‘Powered by Calibre’ partnership, the HQView625 is also available as Kramer VP-796, which will receive its global launch at Kramer’s InfoComm booth 3443. This model supports 4K and has eight video inputs, including HDMI, Display Port, HDBaseT, VGA, Composite and DVI-U. Three identical outputs include: HDBaseT and two HDMI 2.0 outputs.
The next model up is the HQView770/Kramer VP-798, which is a more powerful option and includes pixel-accurate downscaling for LED videowalls. HQView770 includes an LED-optimised scaling algorithm developed in-house by Calibre. The proprietary scaling algorithms used across the range produce high definition virtual 4K images from HD content. Optimum performance features on the HQView770 include advanced image warp and blend capabilities.
“HQUltra is the result of a near four-year research and development program by Calibre to develop a whole new type of video scaling technology. It is aimed at filling the void left by the demise of technologies from silicon vendors such as Silicon Optix HQV and Gennum VXP,” said Tim Brooksbank, chairman at Calibre.
Calibre’s in-house HQUltraFast switching technique allows the HQUltra range to switch between input channels in 0.25 seconds, compared to a standard two or three seconds for competing technologies.
In reference to image black time of 0.1 seconds, Brooksbank commented: “This function alone makes HQUltra a killer product range in the market. The days of fade-through-black switching to hide the switching transition have gone. HQUltra switching has to be seen to be believed it is so fast!”
