Boatswain boasts success with porcelain at home

Andrew Brister 10 December 2013

Boatswain Lighting has reported an all-time high for commissions of its porcelain lighting range from private residences.

Porcelain lighting has made its mark in a number of high-profile restaurants and corporate businesses across the world. Now leading supplier Boatswain Lighting is reporting record numbers of commissions from private residences. “A quick sample of recent projects demonstrates how domestically versatile our chandeliers, wall lights and pendants are around the home – from dining rooms, hallways to orangeries,” says the company’s Jason Boatswain.

Porcelain is the perfect material to make a statement in light. Its warm, translucent tones complement contemporary, classical and traditional interiors. “I loved it as, being a massive fan of sculpture, I felt we not only gained a light source for over the dining room table, but a piece of sculpture which complemented the room where we had set off the old against the new,” says Olivia Bell, of Olivia Bell Design. “The overall result was wonderful.”
