Blitz adds people, wins WorldSkills contract1 July 2011
Blitz Communications has added two new account managers, a project manager, and a project engineer to its growing workforce.
Tim Star joins as account manager from Brand & Deliver, where he was an account/production manager. The second new account manager is David Coster, who returns to Blitz after a brief stint in Spain.
To support the account handling team, Tyron Soutter has been recruited as a project manager. Soutter was previously employed at Aztec Event Services and AVC.
Neil Cakebread rejoins Blitz after a near 20 year gap and will assist with system integration projects and video engineering. He worked for Blitz in the late nineties after which he left to become a technical production manager at Clever Media and subsequently PCI-Live.
“We continue to invest in new and innovative kit, but without the right people, all we would be doing here is shifting boxes,” said Munir Samji, chairman at Blitz (pictured). “Blitz prides itself in providing first-rate technical leadership, and I’m thrilled that we have been able to add this huge array of extra talent.”
Separately, Blitz announced that WorldSkills London 2011 has appointed the company as a technical staging partner for its 2011 event at ExCeL London from 5th to 8th October. This is set to be the world’s largest skills competition with young people from across the globe competing to be the best of the best in their chosen disciplines.
Benefiting from its recent expansion programme, an estimated 150,000 visitors will pass through ExCeL London’s exhibition halls, meeting rooms and the newly constructed London ICC space, making it the largest event held there to date.
Blitz will supply set, staging, video, sound, lighting, rigging, technical crew and expertise for all the conferences, forums and receptions scheduled during the week, as well as equipment for competition spaces and the various wrap around elements of the event.
“This is a huge event and the largest we will have worked on to date at ExCeL London,” said Paul Hutton, managing director of Blitz. “We are delighted to be involved, and relish the challenge of making this an international event to remember.”
