Birmingham Hippodrome goes digital with ADI’s signage solution

The Birmingham Hippodrome has digitised its external signage upgrading to a high impact LED solution created by ADI. This follows last year’s InstallAward-winning interior signage installation from AMX at the venue.

The auditorium averages over 500,000 visits annually and is home to the Birmingham Royal Ballet and DanceXchange also hosting West End and Broadway musicals.

ADI centrally managed the project from the initial design options through to installation. Drew Burrow, ADI’s business development manager, said: “Leisure and live entertainment venues are increasingly embracing LED screen technology because it offers incredible opportunities in terms of visitor experience and commercial value.”

The new façade has a 20sqm LED display with backlit lettering and light strips to bring greater flexibility and offer more promotional impact. The new signage can show high quality video and exclusive previews helping to increase interest footfall around the auditorium and drive up ticket sales.

Mike Bradford, Birmingham Hippodrome’s director of operations, commented: “By incorporating a digital screen we can communicate our extensive programme in a single signage solution, taking our external marketing to a whole new level and achieving greater stand-out for the venue itself. We chose to partner with ADI because of their specialism in LED and their ability to oversee the entire project, coordinating additional elements that add impact.”
